REQUIREMENTS
Affirmative Action South African citizen Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Admission as an Attorney/ Advocate A minimum of 5 years post-admission experience, 3 of which must have been in commercial law or a related area of law and 2 of which must have been in a regulatory specialist position in the automotive or other relevant industryESSENTIAL
Experience in a legal practice is recommended Critical knowledge and experience on key regulatory legislation affecting the Auto/ Manufacturing Industry, including but not limited to the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Protection of Personal Information Act, and the Consumer Protection ActADDED ADVANTAGE
Post-Graduate qualification in the various fields of regulatory complianceRESPONSIBILITIES
Provide efficient and cost-effective legal services in all fields of the law (excluding Labour Law) by rendering legal services, giving advice, and influencing the development and implementation of legislation through lobby groups Providing guidance on licensing matters, managing the distribution of regulatory alerts, participating in internal specialist committees, drafting and reviewing organisational directives Coordinating and conducting training, providing support to African subsidiaries, remaining abreast of the law, and providing general legal support to all user areas Engaging and collaborating with authorities, suppliers, contractors, service providers and other parties (as and when required) Ensure that the group remains compliant in a complex rights-driven legal environment, and ensure that the interests of the group are protected at all times Administer legal matters through the sound application of performance management principles and objectives, key performance indicators and development and training plans Critically review and comment on draft legislation Develop and maintain the group's regulatory universe and provide quarterly reports Develop and maintain group risk management and compliance programmes in key legislation affecting the company Support user areas by providing legal and business advice to ensure compliance Remain abreast of legal developments in general and specifically within the motor industry Coordinate and participate in specialist committees (such as the Social and Ethics Committee) Represent the group at the NAAMSA legal forum on matters of common interest, specifically new legislation, without arising competition law implications Oversee and manage litigation/ alternative dispute resolution proceedings initiated by or instituted against the group with support from external legal practitioners to avoid/ limit negative publicity and/ or reputational damage Protect the intellectual p
