Company: The international commodity trading division of a publicly traded US Fortune 500 group of companies is seeking a Global Counterparty Risk Manager. This division sources and trades grains for human and animal consumption, including wheat, corn, soybeans/meal, and wheat bran throughout Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Its main trading offices are based in Stellenbosch – South Africa, Douglas – Isle of Man, Bogota – Colombia, Monaco, and Lima - Peru.
Role Overview: The Counterparty Risk Manager oversees global counterparty risk management, monitoring, and reporting for all trading locations. Location could be based at any of the major trade office locations.
Job Description:
Ensuring compliance with and continued relevance of counterparty credit risk policies within any corporate directives. Quantification, monitoring, management, and reporting of all counterparty risk. Weekly aging summary of global credit exposures with commentary regarding risk and remediation strategies. Monitoring of contractual sales terms to ensure compliance. Collaboration with regional Traders, Managing and Finance Directors regarding counterparty risk. Oversight of counterparty acceptance processes and standing data. Providing risk-based solutions and products to mitigate counterparty risk. Evaluations of country risk and reporting. Oversight and management of all credit insurance and related service provider relationships.Personnel Activities: Interaction with global trade administration and accounts receivable functions, as well as with management and financial leadership.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Counterparty risk experience and/or relevant qualifications with 5+ years of practical experience. Commodity trade exposure would be beneficial but is not a requirement. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated exposure to management executives for reporting and risk management. An understanding of and ability to negotiate commercial implications of counterparty and credit decisions. Team leadership and people management skills are essential. Demonstrable technology and MS365 proficiency with any automation or AI/ML exposure beneficial. Ability to work flexibly to strict time deadlines. Time management skills to manage and prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines. Excellent English language with Spanish and/or French beneficial.
