Primary Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position requires the services of an individual to effectively develop, implement, and maintain quality systems to ensure that all subordinates are working and performing according to the requirements as set out in their job descriptions and quality operating system procedures.

Key Performance Areas

  • Manage performance of subordinates.
  • Maintain quality systems according to ISO & OEM system requirements.
  • Ensure that all customer requirements are met.
  • Continuously improve product quality and systems by analyzing performance and implementing corrective actions when required.
  • Establish and maintain Quality Department budget.
  • Manage customer requests and complaints.
  • Manage quality performance indicators.
  • Train and mentor subordinates.
  • Continuously improve QMS in line with customer expectations.

Requirements:

  • Manage performance of subordinates.

  • B-Tech Degree in Quality Management or equivalent.
  • Total Quality Management qualification.
  • ISO Standards (Standard Internal Auditor).
  • Familiarity with Customer Standards (BMW & Isuzu) and IATF.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles (preferably in the automotive sector).
  • Six Sigma tools.
  • Root cause analysis & problem-solving / Core tools understanding and implementation.
  • Excellence orientation – High-quality approach, self-starter, ability to work timeously with great quality and under pressure.
  • Customer orientation – Focus on internal and external needs to deliver best quality.
  • Cooperation – Show initiative and be a team player; proactively create a personal network.
  • Collaboration – Work in a collaborative manner with other stakeholders within the team.
  • Accountability – Take responsibility for activities and decisions and be cognizant of all factors that impact the decision. Actively drive cost down.
  • Leadership – Be self-motivated, communicate effectively, display autonomy, coach and guide others.
  • Inter-cultural sensitivity – Ability to use team diversity to achieve goals.
  • Communication – Ability to express oneself and effectively share and communicate information to obtain buy-in.
  • Adaptability – Ability to adapt to technology changes, training gaps, and implement solutions.
  • Auditing skills – Develop and manage process/product audits and general audit reports with defined corrective actions and timing.
  • Corrective actions – Support process departments in closing 8Ds and evaluating effectiveness.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Power BI, end-user knowledge of SAP R3.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the automotive industry of similar complexity. (Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience in car-building, especially German-based factories.)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quality Department Manager in a complex automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience on press tools or assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of quality aspects controlled (e.g., geometry, surface quality, structural integrity).

Minimum Requirements

  • B-Tech Degree in Quality Management or equivalent.
