Optimi has an opportunity available in our academic development team for a dynamic, results-driven Manager: Education Specialist to lead our academic development team.. You must be passionate about educational excellence, quality assurance, student success, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Essential)
- Honours or Master’s degree (Preferred)
- 6 years’ experience, specifically in:
- Accreditation processes involving the three quality councils, SETAs, and the DHET
- Development and quality assurance of learning materials and assessment products
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (Essential)
- Knowledge of Moodle or other learning management systems (Advantageous)
- Fluent in English with excellent written communication skills
DUTIES
- Drive continuous development and review of academic products aligned with the GuidEd Learning™
- Develop detailed student journey maps to enhance students’ success and progression.
- Embed educational innovation in new qualifications and curriculum reviews.
- Lead with creativity, collaboration, and an entrepreneurial spirit.
- Manage the daily operations of the Educational Specialists and Assessment teams.
- Actively contribute to academic committees and maintain strong internal collaboration across departments.
- Report effectively to the Head: Academics and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the design, development, and review of qualifications, courses, and assessments.
- Collaborate with the Accreditation and QA teams to maintain and secure accreditations.
- Supervise the qualification process, ensuring students meet academic standards.
- Ensure assessments are aligned with the curriculum and accreditation requirements.
- Lead by example with high emotional intelligence (EQ).
- Foster an environment where individuals feel valued and motivated.
- Guide the team in following procedures, managing tasks effectively, and achieving output targets.
