Role Overview

The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including strategic planning, reporting, compliance, team management, and process optimisation. This role plays a key part in aligning financial management with business goals, improving profitability, and ensuring the organisation’s financial integrity and statutory compliance.

Working closely with the executive team, the Financial Manager provides insightful financial analysis, supports decision-making, and drives operational efficiency through financial systems and controls.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Planning & Reporting

  • Contribute to the company’s strategic direction and budgeting processes.

  • Analyse financial performance and identify cost-saving and revenue-enhancing opportunities.

  • Align budgeting and forecasting with long-term business goals.

  • Prepare and manage detailed financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.

Financial Accounting & Compliance

  • Oversee full financial accounting, including audits, tax submissions, and statutory compliance (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, IRP5).

  • Ensure accurate preparation of financial statements and monthly management reports.

  • Maintain financial controls and manage reconciliations, cost allocations, and cash flow.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, manage, and mentor the finance team.

  • Develop succession and personal development plans for finance staff.

  • Foster a performance-driven culture aligned with organisational values.

Systems Implementation & Process Improvement

  • Optimise financial systems and accounting processes in line with IFRS.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing operational risk.

  • Strengthen internal controls across all finance functions.

Administration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage banking relationships, supplier accounts, and credit applications.

  • Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.

  • Support administrative tasks and documentation related to finance and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Financial Manager: 5 to 6 years
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) designation preferred.

  • 5–10 years’ experience in financial management, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing or operations environment.

  • Proficiency in financial systems; SAP experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical and financial reporting skills.

  • Skilled in the use of ERP systems and financial software.

  • Effective leadership and team development capabilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.

  • Proactive approach to process improvement and risk mitigation.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels of the organisation.
