Description:
KITCHEN MANAGER: KNYSNA
Retirement Village has a permanent position available for a dedicated Kitchen Manager in their busy restaurant/dining hall. The successful candidate must have a passion to work with and assist the elderly, must be adaptable, professional and display considerable empathy and patience when required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Monitor and maintain quality of food and presentation thereof.
· Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
· Monitor staff and be in charge of staff training.
· Ensure that hygiene standards are met – HACCP knowledge.
· Deal with residents’ complaints.
· Be visible to both staff and management
· Supervise staff shifts of all staff (kitchen and cleaning staff).
· Oversee financial budgets of the units.
· Menu planning and food costing, including special diets.
· Handle small resident events preparation.
· Stock audits.
· Residents monthly accounts – send information to accountant for billing.
HR FUNCTIONS:
· Oversee annual leave and sick leave.
· Do staff performance appraisals.
· Handle disciplinary issues and have meetings.
· Company uniforms control.
· Hygiene Control.
OTHER SKILLS & REQUIRMENTS:
· Driver’s licence with own transport is essential.
· Ability and experience working in a similar position.
· HACCP knowledge.
· Patience and good interpersonal skills, particularly when dealing with elderly people.
· Efficiency and ability to manage others respectfully.
· English and Afrikaans.
· An interest in food / creation of interesting dishes, though not a cook.
· Outward going and ability to generally create an amiable atmosphere.
This position is half-day but could be added to another half-day admin/reception position for the same client if you are interested.
