Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the pre-owned vehicle sales department, ensuring profitability, achieving sales targets, and delivering exceptional customer service. The manager is responsible for overseeing the sales team, stock control, marketing strategies, and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Management Drive and achieve monthly and annual pre-owned vehicle sales targets. Implement sales strategies to increase volume, gross profit, and overall department performance. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the sales team; provide training, coaching, and support. Team Leadership Recruit, manage, and motivate a team of pre-owned vehicle sales executives. Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews. Foster a culture of high performance and accountability. Inventory Management Source quality stock through trade-ins, auctions, or other channels. Oversee vehicle reconditioning and pricing to ensure market competitiveness. Monitor and manage vehicle age and stock levels. Customer Relationship Management Ensure excellent customer satisfaction throughout the sales process. Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally. Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. Marketing & Promotions Coordinate marketing campaigns and digital presence for pre-owned vehicles. Work with the marketing team to create promotional materials and social media content. Ensure online listings are accurate and appealing. Reporting & Administration Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and budgets. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Oversee the documentation and finance processes related to vehicle sales.
Minimum Requirements:
Matric (Grade 12) essential; relevant tertiary qualification in Business/Sales Management advantageous. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the motor industry, with at least 2 years in a sales management role. Proven track record of exceeding sales targets. Knowledge of used car market trends and vehicle valuations. Valid South African driver’s license. Computer literacy (Excel, dealer management systems, CRM tools).
