Description:
Main purpose of the job:
Responsible for ensuring that all laboratory processes, procedures, and results meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves overseeing quality control and assurance programs, implementing best practices for microbiological testing, and maintaining compliance with relevant guidelines and standards (such as ISO 17025). The Quality Manager also provides training and support to laboratory staff, conducts internal audits, and collaborates with other departments to drive continuous improvement in laboratory operations.
Preferred Requirements:
Matric (Gr.12) BSc Microbiology, Biotechnology or Food Science Certificate in ISO 17025 and/or laboratory accreditations standards Food safety legislature, Dairy specific specification Auditing principles 5 years in relevant ExperienceKnowledge & Skills
In-depth knowledge of microbiology, including organisms of interest, growth conditions, and testing methods. Understanding of microbiological safety protocols and laboratory hygiene.
Quality Assurance and Control: Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) including ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and other relevant standards. Familiarity with validation protocols and compliance requirements for laboratory practices.
Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, audits and inspections processes.
Data Management and Statistical Analysis: Proficiency in statistical methodologies for data interpretation and quality control. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective and preventive action plans. Strong troubleshooting skills in laboratory processes and methodologies.
Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership qualities to effectively manage teams and influence a culture of quality. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting findings and training staff.
Training and Development: Skills in designing and implementing training programs related to quality standards and laboratory best practices. Ability to assess training needs and enhance staff competencies.
