Workshop Manager required for an automotive retail and service company based in East London
Job Purpose:
The Workshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the service and repair workshop. This includes managing staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing efficiency to meet customer satisfaction and business goals.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the workshop. Manage a team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff. Ensure timely and accurate diagnosis, repair, and servicing of vehicles. Monitor workflow and allocate jobs to technicians based on priority and skill level. Maintain quality control and ensure all work meets manufacturer and industry standards. Liaise with customers to provide updates and resolve any queries or concerns. Manage inventory levels and ensure the availability of parts and tools. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and costs. Assist in budgeting and managing workshop expenses.Qualifications and Experience:
Matric or equivalent (Mechanical/Technical qualification preferred). Proven experience in an automotive workshop environment, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong technical knowledge of vehicle repairs and maintenance. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Good communication and customer service abilities. Computer literacy (job card systems, MS Office, etc.).Key Competencies:
