Overview of the Role:
The Group Estimating Manager plays a pivotal role in driving successful bid outcomes by overseeing the full bid lifecycle, engaging with clients, refining bid management processes, and leading the development of high-quality proposal solutions. This role involves managing and coordinating multiple estimating teams across various divisions and geographic regions.

Develop and implement standardized estimating procedures and best practices.

Manage relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers.

Analyze market conditions and competitor activity to inform bidding strategies.

Engage in go/no-go decision-making for tender opportunities.

Develop winning strategies for priority tenders.

Conduct risk assessments on tender estimates.

Mentor and develop the estimating team members.

Coordinate resource allocation across multiple teams.

Set team performance targets and conduct regular performance reviews.

Ensure teams are equipped with the necessary tools and relevant software.

Build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative estimating function.
Technical Skills:

Expert knowledge of construction methods and materials.

Proficiency in estimating software and digital take-off tools.

Strong understanding of contract types and bidding processes.

Ability to critically analyze complex tender documentation.

Knowledge of construction law and contract administration.
Business Acumen:

Solid understanding of project cost reporting, profit margins, and markups.

Ability to perform market analysis and gather competitive intelligence.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Engineering.

A post-graduate qualification would be advantageous but is not mandatory.
Experience:

10–15 years of experience in construction estimating.
-
At least 5 years in a senior estimating leadership role.
-
Exposure to large-scale, Design and Build, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) bids.
