Description:
The Financial Manager will be responsible for the overall control of the company's accounting function, financial systems, reports and procedures including the recording, analysing, and reporting of costs for financial planning and decision-making purposes. In addition, hereto, it is also envisaged that such role and responsibility will entail, inter alia, the collection of cost information, maintaining of expense databases, and determining fixed and variable costs within the business including reviewing costs for any inaccuracies or significant variances to budgets and/or expectations. The FM will report to the Group General Manager of the company.
Requirements:
- Finance degree with cost and / or management accounting as a major.
- More than 10 years professional experience in financial management and / or Cost Accounting / Financial controlling.
- Experience of working with a high number of employees in a multi-faceted business.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills
- high degree of personal initiative and sense of responsibility
- Sound knowledge and practical experience in the application of lean management principles to optimise production
- Ability to communicate suggested changes to current practices and procedures
- Experience in change management activities where you are able to translate your findings to improvements within the business environment.
- Proficiency in English and Afrikaans
- Advanced Excel skills
- Preferred Syspro experience and / or other accounting software experience
- Be able to work well individually and within a group.
Responsibilities:
- Collate, prepare and interpret management packs for all entities within the company's stable
- Assist in developing budgets, and monitor budgets against actuals, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Create and maintain relationships with key service providers and contractors
- Actively review the monthly reconciliations including general ledger and bank reconciliations
- Manage and control Bill of Material Costings and Import costings
- Execute monthly STATS SA Reporting
- Oversee operations and personnel of the finance department including management of subordinates KPI's
- Monitor and assist in managing group and company cash flows
- Responsible for monthly variance analysis and reporting, including monthly plan / actual comparison. This is to include cause analysis and derivation together with providing actionable insights to address discrepancies and ultimately improve performance.
