Our client is looking for a Planning and Procurement Manager to join their team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have strong operational and strategic experience across procurement and planning within a multinational manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibilities across sourcing, demand and supply planning, inventory control, customs, and the implementation of the S&OP process.
Responsibilities:

Manage sourcing for packaging, raw materials, and finished goods
-
Lead and supervise a team of buyers and planners
-
Maintain and optimize inventory levels (value and DIO)
-
Conduct monthly inventory reviews with stakeholders
-
Implement and lead the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process
-
Monitor supplier performance and ensure SLA compliance
-
Collaborate with regional sourcing teams to evaluate supply options
-
Manage and improve order placement processes for both local and imported goods
-
Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Finance on aligned targets
-
Lead supplier negotiations and contract management
-
Identify and manage supply chain risks with mitigation plans
-
Manage own buying portfolio where appropriate
-
Monitor price variations and implement corrective actions
-
Align local procurement processes with regional/global standards
-
Oversee demand and supply planning to meet OTIF targets (>96%)
-
Coordinate with Production for RM and packaging supply
-
Ensure optimal stock levels at national warehouses
-
Oversee imports, customs compliance, clearing and forwarding processes
-
Manage third-party service providers and their SLAs
-
Lead initiatives to drive efficiency, cost reduction, and process improvement
-
Produce required reporting for local, regional, and global stakeholders
-
Provide insights and analysis on trends and seasonality
-
Participate in cross-functional supply chain projects
-
Ensure sourcing elements support BBBEE requirements
-
Ensure compliance with procurement policies, internal controls, and ISO standards
-
Manage internal and external audits
-
Approve departmental expenses and manage budgets
-
Drive achievement of departmental KPIs and financial targets
Requirements:
-
Degree in Procurement, Finance, or Supply Chain
-
Minimum 12 years’ experience in procurement and planning
-
At least 8 years in a management role
-
Proven experience managing a procurement team with 5+ direct reports
-
Strong experience implementing and leading the S&OP process
-
Knowledge of sourcing, manufacturing planning, customs, and supply chain management
-
Proficient in SAP, Syspro, QlikView, Microsoft Excel (advanced), and PowerPoint
-
Ability to lead in a global matrix environment and influence at executive level
-
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
-
Ability to work independently and in a high-pressure environment
-
Willingness to be hands-on and work extended hours when required
