Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing: Accurately process monthly, weekly, or bi-weekly payrolls for employees, ensuring that all data is entered correctly into the Pastel Payroll system. Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws, statutory requirements, and company policies, including the timely submission of tax filings (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL). Payroll Queries: Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll inquiries and resolve any issues regarding pay discrepancies, deductions, or benefits. Report Generation: Generate and distribute detailed payroll reports such as payslips, tax reports, and year-end reports. Provide summaries for accounting and HR departments. Reconciliations: Reconcile payroll data and reports, ensuring all deductions, benefits, and taxes are correctly applied. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, ensuring all employee information is stored securely and confidentially. End-of-Year Processing: Assist with year-end processes such as generating IRP5s, tax certificates, and ensuring all payroll-related documentation is accurate and ready for submission. Payroll Software Maintenance: Keep the Pastel Payroll system up to date with employee data, tax rate changes, and new payroll-related information. Auditing:
Assist with internal and external payroll audits as required. Qualifications And Skills Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, HR, or a related field. Professional certification At least 2-3 years of experience in payroll administration, with a strong emphasis on Pastel Payroll software. 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in manufacturing or procurement. Strong understanding of tax legislation (e.g., PAYE, UIF, SDL) and other statutory obligations. Strong focus on accuracy and confidentiality with a methodical approach to wo
