Responsibilities:
Lead structural and civil engineering activities for the refinery upgrade project. Oversee and coordinate with EPC contractors, ensuring project success at every stage. Review engineering documents, deliverables, and technical specifications for compliance. Provide expertise in structural and foundation loading calculations. Evaluate existing structures and advise on capacity and modifications. Support multi-discipline teams, including mechanical, piping, E&I, and construction. Conduct integrity checks and recommend repair or replacement solutions. Participate in quality audits and ensure compliance with industry standards. Contribute to HAZOP/HAZID reviews, model reviews, and value engineering.Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil & Structural Engineering (Advanced degree preferred). Professional Engineer registration (preferred).Experience:
15+ years of experience in civil and structural engineering, preferably in the oil and gas industry. Extensive experience across all project life cycle phases (FEED, Detailed Design, EPC, Construction, Operations & Maintenance). Strong technical expertise in civil and structural designs and software tools.Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Commitment to process safety and compliance with industry regulations. Ability to coordinate and drive quality outputs from contractors. Proficiency in civil and structural engineering principles, industry codes, and standards. Knowledge of South African legislative and SANS standards for civil and structural engineering. Expertise in construction drawings, structural steel arrangements, foundation design, and drainage systems. Strong business acumen with project funding and cost analysis experience. Excellent communication, report writing, and interpersonal skills. Willingness to travel as required
