Our client is looking for a General Manager – Steel Making to join their team in Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing steel-making operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality in production. This role requires a strong leader with extensive experience in the steel or metals industry who can drive performance, optimize costs, and uphold high operational standards.
Responsibilities:

Ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working environment by effectively managing risks and compliance.

Lead and develop teams to foster a high-performance and value-driven culture.

Drive strategic initiatives to improve process efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Oversee financial governance, budget control, and CAPEX management.

Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering quality steel products and optimizing throughput.

Implement business improvement initiatives and standardization across operations.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (NQF 8) required; a Management Development Program and MBA are advantageous.

Minimum of 12 years of experience in the steel or metals industry.

Strong knowledge of steel-making processes and business operations.

Expertise in SHERQ, HR policies, and regulatory compliance.

Proven leadership, strategic planning, and change management skills.

Ability to manage stakeholders effectively and drive business growth.
