Our client based in Plettenberg Bay, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring operational success.

Job Purpose

The Senior Accountant will oversee all financial operations, provide strategic insights, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a proactive leader who can manage day-to-day accounting functions, support business growth, and collaborate closely with the CEO to drive financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring expertise, attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to a thriving local business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare, review, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections in collaboration with the CEO. Ensure timely submission of financial reports to the CEO and relevant stakeholders. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with South African tax laws, IFRS, and other regulatory requirements. Oversee audits (internal and external) and implement recommendations to strengthen financial controls. Manage risk by identifying potential financial vulnerabilities and proposing solutions. Accounting Operations: Supervise accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile bank statements and accounts. Implement and optimize accounting systems and processes for efficiency. Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis and insights to support the CEO in strategic planning and business development. Evaluate investment opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue growth strategies. Assist in preparing financial proposals for funding or partnerships as needed. Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability. Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment across the organization. Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake special projects as directed by the CEO, such as system upgrades or process improvements. Represent the company in financial discussions with external stakeholders when required.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA(SA), CIMA, or SAICA. Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Proven experience in financial reporting, bu
