Financial Accountant - 3 MONTH CONTRACT - STELLENBOSCH
This role will rapport to the Financial Director
A fast-paced, established, and reputable Liquor and FMCG Distribution Company is seeking a Financial Accountant to assist in their finance department. This will become a full-time position based in Stellenbosch providing support and to our companies in Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho and Botswana.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
Monthly Creditors:
o Management of creditors system (ensuring all creditors processed accurately and paid timeously).
o Ensuring VAT compliance of supplier invoices.
o Supervision of creditor clerks in country.
Monthly payrolls:
o Payroll Masterfile maintenance and setup.
o Preparation, review and reconciliation of payrolls.
o Preparation and submission of payments (medical aid, provident fund, salaries) and contribution schedules.
o Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.
Monthly withholding taxes:
o Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.
Monthly VAT, deferred VAT and Alcohol levy:
o Monthly reconciliation of VAT/Alcohol levy.
o Preparation and submission of statutory payments and returns.
Monthly GL reconciliation files:
o Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (every month is a year-end).
o Bank reconciliations.
o Stock revaluation.
o Review of income statement against budget, investigation of variances and accruals.
Monthly management accounts.
Other Annual/Ad hoc responsibilities:
o Setting up of annual budgets.
o Assisting with drafting of internally compiled annual financial statements.
o Assisting with tax provisional and annual tax computations.
o Assisting with other annual statutory submissions e.g. Annual PAYE/WHT reconciliations.
o Ad hoc internal auditing.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
SAIPA/SAICA articles/qualification preferable. (SA)
Broad, hands-on exposure to all fields related to above duties and responsibilities.
A good working knowledge of VAT and Tax (including Employees Tax).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel (Advanced level excel preferable - VLOOKUP's, pivots etc.) & SAP
Hands-on experience in Payspace, VIP and Draftworx would be
Decent knowledge of IFRS.
