Are you a social media expert with a love for food and cooking? We are looking for a social media and community manager for Woolworths TASTE. You’ll be responsible for managing the brand's social media presence in collaboration with the award-winning team, producing exquisite, platform-specific social media copy and building and managing the growing community. You’ll also be working closely with the editorial and commercial teams to brainstorm content ideas for all platforms.

What the job entails:

  • Working in a passionate editorial team to conceptualise, plan, and manage all social media channels in line with the editorial vision of the brand and client.
  • Working with the Head of Digital and Online Editor to develop and adapt creative and engaging social media strategies in a landscape of shifting algorithms.
  • Writing inspired social copy in the TASTE tone-of-voice that drives real engagement, and work with the copy editor to ensure our voice is always free of typos, grammatical and factual errors.
  • Scheduling content across different social platforms (Meta, TikTok, Youtube and Pinterest).
  • Building communities on these platforms by responding to comments in a strategic, educated and helpful manner.
  • Working with the Woolworths social team to manage collabs, crises and ensure alignment.
  • Finding relevant food conversations on social media platforms and participate in the conversations in the TASTE tone-of-voice.
  • Providing regular feedback to the team around content performance and community questions and comments.
  • Helping develop and deliver social media rollout of paid sales campaigns for the commercial team.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest social media trends, best practices, and tools and changes to continually optimize our social media strategy.
  • Undertaking audience research and identify relevant influencers across social media platforms.
  • Monitoring, tracking, and analysing performance, and working with the Head of Insights to report on all social media platforms using the relevant tools.
  • Research and evaluating the latest relevant trends to help inform content ideas for all platforms.
  • Recommending improvements to increase performance.
  • Working to targets to increase brand awareness and engagement.
  • Working with paid media specialist to identify best content for boosting content across platforms.
  • Working with editorial and commercial teams in brainstorms and contribute content ideas.

What you should have:
  • Applicable degree-level tertiary education
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing a brand’s social media accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant social media platforms, tools and analytics
  • Experience with content management systems a plus (any blogging counts!)
  • Sound food and cooking knowledge, and the confidence to use it
  • Knowledge of the South African food landscape is a plus
