Description:
We’re looking for a dynamic, results-driven General Manager, Sales – Road (Automotive) to lead and expand our Automotive vertical. In this high-impact leadership role, you will manage a team of Key Account Managers servicing premium automotive clients, ensuring optimal supply chain solutions, revenue growth, and client satisfaction. Main Purpose of the Role:- Lead, develop, and manage the Automotive vertical and its dedicated sales team.
- Take full ownership of revenue retention, growth, and strategic expansion, with the potential to cross-sell into other business units (Solutions, Air & Sea).
- Leverage your expertise across Operations, HR, IT, Finance, and Sales to drive holistic value for automotive clients.
- Strengthen relationships with key automotive brands (C-level) and ensure long-term partnerships.
- Identify, target, and win new business while enhancing and retaining the existing client base.
- Respond effectively to Tenders, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and craft tailored logistical solutions.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years' end-to-end Supply Chain experience, with at least 3 years managing Account Managers focused on outbound road distribution within South Africa’s automotive sector.
- Proven track record in handling automotive supply chain logistics, not vehicle sales/leasing.
- National Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Strong background in formulating solutions for tenders and proposals for automotive clients .
Added Advantages:
- Experience in full end-to-end Automotive Supply Chain management (including Air & Sea logistics and warehousing services).
- Previous exposure working for an Automotive OEM in a logistics/supply chain role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Align the Automotive Sales team’s strategies with both company goals and customer expectations.
- Build and sustain strong, strategic relationships with C-level stakeholders and internal directors.
- Create a high-performance, positive team culture by effectively managing, mentoring, and holding Account Managers to Minimal Acceptable Standards (MAS).
- Ensure seamless onboarding and implementation of new business accounts.
- Continuously seek opportunities to optimize processes, enhance service offerings, and grow market share.
