Experience in a manual turning role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.Key Responsibilities:
Operate manual lathes to machine components to specified dimensions and tolerances. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions. Select and set appropriate tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials. Measure and inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gauges). Adjust machine settings and cutting tools to achieve required finishes and tolerances. Perform routine maintenance and checks on machines to ensure proper functionality. Work with different materials, including steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics. Ensure that machined parts meet quality standards and production deadlines. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to optimize machining processes.Key Skills & Competencies:
Proficiency in operating manual lathes. Strong understanding of machining principles, cutting speeds, and feeds. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Experience with precision measuring tools and quality control techniques. Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Attention to detail with the ability to work to tight tolerances. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a workshop environment.
