Description:
You will be responsible for detailed design and optimizing the green hydrogen and ammonia process, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence.A strong background in chemical/process engineering, project management, and data analysis, is required with a focus on delivering cost effective and sustainable solutions.
This is a key role to enhance productivity, optimisation, detailed plant design, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards for the green hydrogen and ammonia projects in South Africa, Peru and Egypt.
Below is a summary of the role. More information is available to qualified candidates:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General
The Pre-FEED stage involves arranging ISBL package inputs, defining OSBL requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimizing costs to support financial viability while developing the basis for FEED and EPC cost estimation. Process Optimization
Includes key elements such as Process Design Basis, Licensors BDEP, process simulations and reports, heat and mass balances, flow diagrams (PFDs and UFDs), P&IDs, equipment and utility data sheets, calculations and studies, equipment and utility lists, chemical consumption details, line lists, and a design review report. HSE/Safety:
Conducting a HAZID study to identify potential hazards early in the design phase, reviewing HAZOP to assess process-related risks and operability issues, compiling a HAZOP closeout report to document resolution of recommendations, and establishing the HSE philosophy. Mechanical
Developing the Basis of Design, specifying equipment, preparing equipment data sheets and requisitions for long-lead items (LLIs), and conducting technical and commercial bid evaluations for LLIs. Piping:
The piping scope includes establishing the Piping Design Basis and specifications, defining plant and equipment layout philosophy, reviewing the plot plan, preparing line and tie-in lists with sketches, developing material take-offs (MTOs), and creating overall plot plans, pipe rack layouts, and general arrangement drawings. REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree or advanced certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) are a plus. Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in detailed process design in the chemical, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals industry. Proven track record of successfully optimizing processes and leading projects from development to COD. Technical Skills:
