Requirements

Grade 12/NQF 4 or Relevant Tertiary Qualification Must have 3-5+ years experience on Civil Projects (Roads, Earthworks, Reservoirs, Water Pipeworks, Concrete Works) Knowledge of Construction Methods (SANS 1200) Strong Communication & Organization skills Able to train and mentor staff Valid Driver's License (Code EB or Higher)

Key Responsibilities:

PLANNING

Plan daily for the following days activities. Ensure that sufficient materials are available alongside trenches. Monitor progress against target and report. Locate and expose all existing services prior to each day''s work.

LABOUR-MANAGEMENT

Ensure that team leaders and operators have all the information prior to starting the work process. Maintain discipline of team. Train students and tachi-sighters. Ensure that healthy/open communication take place up- and downwards.

PLANT MANAGEMENT

Responsible for the safekeeping accuracy and maintenance of instruments and other tools issued. Check instruments on a regular basis and report. Ensure correct application of plant. Report downtime & mechanical problems on the plant. Responsible for maintenance of profiles and tamnani''s. Ensure that all survey equipment is stored safely and neat.

SURVEYING

Check all benchmarks, survey beacons, and existing connection points for accuracy. Report any discrepancies from the plan or existing information. Check levels of the previous day, especially where work has to continue. Ensure that each team has line and level in place to start work timeously. Locate all indicated existing services report line and level clashes. Check and observe level and line during pipelaying. Report any deviations immediately. Responsible for the recovery of survey material (droppers and pegs).

COST MANAGEMENT

Measure work daily and complete survey and daily costing sheets. Allocate correct cost codes for fuel and labour.

CONTRACTUAL MANAGEMENT

Responsible for setting out accurately according to drawings, specification and documentation and Company standard. Consult the plan register and use latest updates. Responsible for surveying and recording of as-built information. Survey all existing ground levels and record and report discrepancies. Record all survey information according to Company standard. Ensure that quality standards are upheld. Ensure that safety procedures are followed. Use correct line of communication with Engineers.

Ensure Healthy relationships with Engineers and Client. Be aware of public access and particular requirements of the contra
