Description:
Hire Resolve's client , a leading construction company renowned for delivering high-quality civil engineering projects, is currently seeking a General Foreman to join their team in Wellington.
Responsibilities:

Planning:
- Evaluate site conditions for effective planning.
- Collaborate with the Site Agent to develop weekly programs.
- Schedule activities in line with the weekly plan.
- Monitor progress against targets and implement corrective actions as needed.

Man-Management:
- Conduct labor inductions in accordance with company policy.
- Assign teams based on the weekly plan.
- Assess personnel to ensure the use of proper construction methods.
- Provide team leaders and operators with necessary information from the Surveyor before commencing tasks.
- Maintain team discipline and adherence to working hours.
- Ensure watchmen are on duty as required.

Plant Management:
- Allocate plant resources according to the weekly plan.
- Oversee the use of small plant equipment and tools.
- Ensure proper application of plant and implements.
- Report any downtime or mechanical issues promptly.
- Uphold the company's image regarding plant maintenance.
- Organize refueling schedules for plant equipment.
- Establish cleaning schedules for all plant machinery.

Material Management:
- Plan material needs based on the weekly schedule.
- Report material shortages in a timely manner.
- Manage the receipt, storage, and control of materials to prevent losses.
- Report any discrepancies to the Site Agent.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in designated areas.
- Ensure materials are used correctly as per specifications.

Cost Management:
- Complete daily costing sheets and report findings.
- Collaborate with the Site Agent to plan corrective actions.
- Verify that supervision allocates correct cost codes.
- Manage the site to meet financial targets.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Plan and conduct required testing of materials and work.
- Maintain proper communication lines with Engineers on-site.

- Ensure supervision is aware of quality standards.
- Monitor and uphold quality standards consistently.
- Ensure safety procedures are strictly followed.
- Plan and conduct necessary testing of materials and work.
- Maintain proper communication lines with Engineers on-site.

Public Relations:
- Foster positive relationships with Engineers and Clients.
- Communicate company policies regarding transport, facilities, and public amenities to workers.
- Be mindful of public access and specific contract requirements.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 / NQF4 certification; relevant tertiary qualification is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Production Manager or General Foreman on civil projects.
- Proven experience in managing construction teams, including pipelines, earthworks, roads, and concrete works.
- Familiarity with construction methods, particularly SANS 1200.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to train and mentor junior foremen and laborers.
- Valid driver's license (Code EB or higher).
