Are you a seasoned Project Manager with a passion for renewable energy? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Close Project Manager to oversee the planning and delivery of our client’s utility-scale renewable energy plants. This role will be based at their Tyger Waterfront, Cape Town office or potentially at their Johannesburg office, with a hybrid work model involving both in-office/site presence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Development: Assist the SIPPS team with project sourcing, develop due diligence criteria, and ensure projects meet all necessary criteria before handover to the closing team.
- Financial Close Project Schedule: Develop, update, and manage a realistic financial close schedule, incorporating key project gates and checkpoints.
- EPC Contractor Procurement: Lead the RFI process, review proposals, engage with bidders, lead project optimizations, and assist with contractual negotiations.
- Financial Close Team: Build and manage an effective financial closing team, oversee the financial closing process, and ensure compliance with relevant legislative requirements (e.g., Eskom).
Required Qualifications and Experience :
- Engineering, Project Management, Finance, or Management-related Degree.
- 5-10 years of experience as a Project Manager in the power generation industry, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- 3+ years of on-site experience in financial close or project development of renewable energy projects in South Africa.
- Strong knowledge of financial closing activities.
- Proficiency in project management software tools.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and standards.
