About the Role:
Pressure Filter Specialists (https://www.pressurefilterspecialists.co.za) are seeking a qualified and experienced Pressure Filter Technician/Fitter to join our maintenance team. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, primarily Larox press filters, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
As a key contributor to the reliability of plant operations, you will carry out preventative and corrective maintenance, respond to equipment failures, and support production needs. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, adjust, and maintain mechanical equipment in line with layout plans, schematic drawings, and safety standards.
- Conduct fault-finding, preventative maintenance, and repairs on Larox press filters and related plant equipment.
- Operate Larox filters both manually (handheld units) and via PLC interfaces, performing visual inspections and identifying defects.
- Read and interpret hydraulic diagrams and process flow schematics.
- Use hand and power tools to perform installations and mechanical fitting tasks.
- Replace defective parts and perform equipment adjustments as needed.
- Operate machine tools for the fabrication of components during maintenance or overhauls.
- Participate in planned maintenance (PM) schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper functioning of safety devices after maintenance or modifications.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Compiling of Service Reports
- Keep work areas clean and compliant with environmental and safety standards.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and participate in the planning and execution of repair work.

- Mechanical Fitter: 5 to 6 years
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Red Seal Certification (Mechanical Fitter or relevant trade)
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in a similar role
- Valid Passport
- Valid driver’s license
- Clear criminal record
- Solid knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with plant equipment: pumps, crushers, screens, conveyor belts, and feeders
- Working knowledge of PLC systems (an advantage)
- Basic welding skills (MIG and Stick)
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Office
- Physically fit and capable of performing manual labour
- Willingness to work overtime, be on standby, and travel to remote mining sites
- Fluent in English, with strong communication skills
- Grade 12 (Matric)
