Job Description:The Junior Associate / Admitted Attorney will provide legal support to the firm's partners and senior attorneys. The role involves conducting legal research, drafting documents, attending court proceedings, liaising with clients, and assisting with the preparation and management of case files. This is an ideal opportunity for a recently admitted attorney to gain hands-on experience and grow within a dynamic legal environment.Key Responsibilities:Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions.Draft legal documents including pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and correspondence.Attend court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and consultations.Provide legal support in litigation, commercial law, family law, or other areas depending on the firm’s focus.Review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents for compliance and accuracy.Meet with clients to obtain instructions and provide updates on case progress.Manage and maintain case files and documentation.Assist in preparing briefs and case strategies under the supervision of senior attorneys.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments and precedents.Perform administrative tasks related to case management and court filings. Qualifications:- Education: LLB Degree from a recognized institution.
- Admission: Admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- Experience: 0–2 years post-admission experience (ideal for recently admitted attorneys).
- Legal Skills:
- Strong research and analytical abilities
- Excellent drafting and communication skills
- Knowledge of court procedures and legal processes
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Jutastat)
- Soft Skills:
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Discretion and integrity in handling confidential information
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Exposure to specific areas of law (e.g., commercial, litigation, property, family, or labour law).
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel (if required).
- Fluency in English; knowledge of other South African languages is advantageous.
