JOB PURPOSE:To operate appropriate equipment and to ensure that all maintenance operations are conducted within the quality, health and safety requirements of the company.
DUTIES AND RESOPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up components for welding
- Keep records of jobs and drawings
- Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
- Weld components using welding equipment
- Assist to repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Able to work with power tools
- Maintain equipment in the condition that does not compromise safety
- Report all dangerous or unsafe behaviors to supervisor or manager
- Perform housekeeping duties
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Grade 12 advantageous
- 3-5 years' experience in marine environment
- Experienced in using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
- Experience in using electrical or manual tools
- Be prepared to work overtime and adhere to all company safety rules and policies
- Able to demonstrate good communication skills
- Ability to be a strong team player and have the passion to learn new things
- Must be able to read drawings
- Ability to work at heights and confined spaces
- Available to work under pressure and overtime
- Pay attention to detail
- Medically fit and punctual
- Sober habits and no criminal record
- Own reliable transport
