Boy Louw Attorneys, an established law firm situated in Paarl, currently requires the services of a Senior Legal Secretary / Paralegal. The incumbent will primarily be responsible for conveyancing tasks, but will also be utilised for commercial related duties.
This is an ideal opportunity for a person who has excellent attention to detail skills, outstanding computer and language skills (Afrikaans & English) and who can function independently and take initiative.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Taking ownership of the conveyancing transaction file (residential and commercial) from beginning to end (including but not limited to opening of file, obtaining relevant information, preparing transfer documents, obtaining rates clearances and transfer duty receipts, and any other consents required for the transfer of a property to be effected) Preparing, administering, and organising files accurately and providing general administrative assistance to the Conveyancer Communication with relevant stakeholders from internal and external parties (financial institutions, agents, municipalities, Deeds Office, etc.) Attending to all conveyancing related finances related to a transaction Typing and editing (proofreading, checking grammar and modifying layout) of general commercial agreements / notary related work and correspondence PA duties in support of Conveyancers’ commercial practice (telephone duties, organising, diary planning, problem solving, etc.) Account / debtor management including posting of commercial fees, invoicing, itemised billing, sending accounts and detailed reports to clients and debt collectionThe ideal person will meet the following requirements:
Minimum of 8 years of experience as Legal Secretary Conveyancing secretarial qualification and experience Commercial secretarial experience will be advantageous Excellent computer skills (Lexis Convey & Practice / Word / Outlook / Ghost Practice) Outstanding professional communication and language skills in both Afrikaans and English (oral and written) Above average numeracy skills Attention to detail Ability to function well within a small team Good organisational skills with the ability to function well under pressure, prioritise tasks, multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines Willing to work overtime when required
