Description:
PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to assume full commercial and contractual responsibility on our Kendal ADFP Project .
This is a site-based, standalone role – the appointed candidate will manage all day-to-day quantity surveying duties independently and report directly to the Project Manager .
The successful candidate must demonstrate deep working knowledge of the NEC3 ECC (April 2013) contract and have a proven track record in managing cost, contracts, valuations, and subcontractor accounts on civil and industrial infrastructure projects .
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Cost Management & Reporting
- Prepare, manage, and update project budgets, forecasts and cashflows.
- Produce monthly cost reconciliations and cost-to-complete reports.
- Monitor project expenditure and control commercial risk.
Contract Administration
- Prepare and submit Compensation Event Quotations (CEQs)
- Maintain change and CE registers and ensure timely agreement of time and cost impacts
- Ensure compliance with the NEC3 contractual processes and timelines
Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Prepare and issue Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender evaluations and subcontract agreements
- Assess and certify monthly subcontractor valuations
- Negotiate and finalize subcontractor final accounts, final payments, and close-outs
Site-Based Commercial Oversight
- Conduct routine site assessments and verify actual progress
- Liaise with engineers and site agents to validate measurements and changes
- Maintain all commercial records including payment schedules, CE logs, Invoice registers and risk registers
Systems & Reporting
- Use MS Excel (advanced level) for analysis, valuations, reporting, and cost tracking
- Maintain registers using project ERP (IFS – training will be provided)
Governance
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and statutory requirements
- Support audits, cost reviews, and client reporting obligations
QUALIFICATION
- BSc/BTech/National Diploma in Quantity Surveying
- Registration with SACQSP
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 6-8 years post-qualification practical experience, with 5+ years in a senior QS role on civil/industrial projects.
- Strong working experience with NEC3 contracts (especially ECC Option A)
- Familiarity with Candy. (Advantageous)

- Proficient in generating financial management reports for project managers
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, subtotals, etc.)

- IFS ERP – training will be provided
- High planning and organizational capability
- Technical competence in quantity surveying methodologies
- Ability to work independently in a site-based environment.
