Our client in the facilities management, cleaning and security industry is looking for
a Head Canteen Chef in the Delmas area.
Purpose of the Job:
The company is looking for an experienced and passionate Head Canteen Chef to lead the culinary operations of a busy canteen and catering division. This role is perfect for someone who can deliver high-quality buffet-style meals as well as manage catering for events, finger foods, and platters — all while keeping an eye on quality, costs, and team performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Matric Certificate (Grade 12)
• Formal chef qualification (e.g., Diploma in Professional Cookery or equivalent)
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a canteen, industrial kitchen, or catering environment
• Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP or similar) and kitchen hygiene protocols
• Solid understanding of food costing, stock control, and kitchen administration
• Strong cooking and plating skills across hot buffet meals, finger foods, and platters
• At least 3–5 years' experience, proven experience leading a kitchen team in a canteen or high-volume catering environment
• Own reliable transport or the ability to commute to Delmas daily
