Description:
SPP Lasercut, a fast-growing, well-established sheet metal components and manufacturing company, is looking to hire a skilled and experienced Operations Manager for its branch in Bellville.
Key Responsibilities are:
- Plan schedule and coordinate production activities to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders.
- Monitor equipment performance and optimise machine utilisation (laser cutting machines, CNC press brakes, etc).
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the workflow.
Quality Assurance
- Enforce quality control procedures to meet ISO and customer standards.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues with a root-cause analysis approach.
- Work with the Quality department to maintain and improve standards.
Team Leadership and Staff Management
- Lead and supervise production teams, including machine operators, cleaners and bending staff.
- Provide training, coaching and performance evaluations.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and manage shift rotations if applicable.
Health, Safety and Environment Compliance
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations (OHSA)
- Promote a culture of safety and implement risk assessments and preventative measures.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Inventory and Supply Chain
- Oversee raw material procurement and inventory control.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
- Work closely with logistics to coordinate dispatch and delivery.
Customer Service and Communication
- Work with the sales and customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Handle operational queries, escalations and urgent orders effectively.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting to the customer and management.
Process Improvement
- Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyse production data and metrics to identify areas of improvement.
- Manage cost control and productivity enhancement projects.

- Supervisory Experience: 2 to 3 years
- Degree In Mechanical Engineering: 5 to 6 years
- Manufacturing/ Metal Fabrication: 5 to 6 years
- National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/metal fabrication environment.
- At least 2 Years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in laser cutting, CNC bending, and sheet metal fabrication is essential.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning ability.
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Good knowledge of production software and ERP systems.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).

Qualifications and Experience
