As the Financial Accountant you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and efficient financial operations across multiple entities with high book values. This role requires an individual with experience in the agricultural sector and expertise in managing complex financial structures. The successful candidate must be highly meticulous, organized, and able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Minimum Requirements:
BCom in Accounting, Financial Management, Management Accounting or equivalent.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial accounting for multiple entities with high book values.
Agricultural industry experience preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Pastel.
Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Knowledge of tax compliance, including VAT and EMP submissions.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple financial functions efficiently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
Ensure all financial records are maintained in compliance with IFRS.
Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial reports.
Develop and manage budgets and cash flow projections.
Track and evaluate production costs, operational expenses, and financial viability.
Accounting & Compliance:
Manage VAT, income tax, and other tax submissions in compliance with SARS regulations.
Prepare and submit VAT and EMP returns via e-filing monthly.
Compile and audit annual financial statements.
Ensure books are up to date for financial year-end audits.
Creditors & Debtors Management:
Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Conduct cost-reduction reviews and financial evaluations.
Manage purchase orders (POs) and reconcile creditor and debtor accounts.
Asset & Inventory Control:
Maintain fixed asset registers, ensuring accurate depreciation and insurance coverage.
Monitor and manage raw materials, finished goods, and biological assets.
Strategic Financial Planning:
Assess and manage financial risks, including credit risk with customers and suppliers.
Evaluate new business ventures and investment opportunities.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict financial deadlines.
Willingness to travel when required.
