A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and maintain the quality management system at its Johannesburg site. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, food safety compliance, and regulatory alignment in the production of food-contact packaging materials.
The Quality Manager will oversee internal quality operations, certifications, audits, supplier performance, and will also provide technical service support for production optimization. This role requires strong collaboration across departments and effective communication with external stakeholders including customers and auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage the site’s quality and food safety management system in accordance with GFSI and ISO standards.
- Ensure outgoing products meet all regulatory and customer specifications.
- Coordinate certification processes (e.g., ISO 9001, GFSI) and ensure continuous compliance.
- Plan and manage internal audits, documentation, and control systems.
- Address customer concerns and lead corrective actions using root cause analysis.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process quality and customer satisfaction.
- Provide technical support on capping systems and contribute to export-related quality operations.
- Train and mentor the quality team while managing the area’s quality budget.
- • Education: National Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
- • Experience: 5–10 years in a similar Quality Management role within manufacturing or food-contact packaging.
- • Software: Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
- • Standards: Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, GFSI, and food safety regulations.
- • Advantageous: Exposure to MOCA standards and basic mechanical understanding of capping systems.
