Overview
The role primarily to train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned warehouse employees. Assign the workload to the team and oversee the dispatch and receiving teams respectively. Manage the warehouse operations and staff.
This is an extremely fast-paced, quick turn-around and time sensitive environment.
Main accountabilities include:
- Responsible for the supervision of all staff handling and physical movement of freight as required.
- Resolve any customer service issues that may arise and delegate where necessary. Supervise staff to ensure that they are working in a safe manner.
- Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Effectively managing employees in the warehouse which includes the drivers and warehouse assistants.
- Ensure only qualified drivers operate the equipment and vehicles.
- Operational knowledge security customs regulations, equipment certification and compliance.
- Experience with warehouse operations.
- Participate and support 8 Pillar and 5 Star audits.
- Work closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operations and to achieve deadlines and cut-offs as well as obtaining POD’s and signatures from airlines, handling agents and clients.
- Ensure vehicles and equipment to be checked, cleaned, maintain and kept in a roadworthy condition at all times.
- Fully comply with the Company Health & Safety policy.
- Fully comply with the Company Security Regulations.
- Fully comply with Company handling procedures.
- Implement and adhere to policies and procedures as directed in the Company Employee Handbook

- Implement work instructions for receiving, labeling, storing, shipping and value add services as required using warehouse best practices
- Responsible for the secure and space-optimizing build-up of cargo
- Responsible (with the Compliance manager) for ensuring all warehouse activities are in compliance with, shipping, food safety and other regulatory requirements
- Maximize the storage capacity of the warehouse through the proper management of the product at receipt and during storage
- Work with Operations and Compliance managers as a team to solve problems and identify areas to improve/enhance overall service to the customer
- Hire, train, reward, discipline, and discharge employees
- Responsible (with Compliance manager) for the security of the warehouse
- Ensure safety is a number one consideration on the warehouse floor and with drivers
- Administrative duties including scheduling, time cards, maintaining materials inventory and other duties as needed

- A minimum of 3 years experience in freight forwarding is required.
- Significant hands-on operational experience essential with sound knowledge in aircraft and equipment specifications.
- Sound knowledge of Customs regulations and requirements.
- Ability to write effectively and to extract information from written materials.
- Ability to develop action plans for people to achieve specific goals.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in computing packages: Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Show empathy to employee’s problems and suggestions and provide alternative options to solutions.
- Display a high level of customer service and maturity when dealing with customers, peers and managers.
- Possess a friendly and confident manner with a pleasant personality.
- Good personal presentation and professional manner at all times.
- Possess the ability to make on the spot decisions with good justification.
