Description:
Responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of nursing education programs, including CPD, in-service training, and student clinical placements. Provides coaching, supports clinical competence, ensures compliance with quality standards, and promotes the nursing profession through strategic initiatives and community engagement. Key Responsibilities- Effective Management of CPD and Other Development Programs for Registered Nurses
- Plan, coordinate, and actively contribute to the implementation of nursing competency requirements aligned with the hospital and nursing strategy
- Offer coaching and mentorship to staff to promote and maintain clinical competence
- Management of Risk-Based In-Service Training Programs (Including Quality Aspects)
- Design, coordinate, and oversee risk-based in-service training initiatives
- Contribute to incident investigations and hospital quality improvement projects
- Provide feedback, identify deviations, and implement corrective measures where required
- Address product-related risks and ensure staff competence through targeted training
- Oversight of Internal and Approved External Student Clinical Programs
- Assist in selecting internal and external nursing students
- Ensure proper management of student administration and allocation of learning resources
- Identify relevant clinical learning opportunities and facilitate skills development
- Provide regular feedback to both the Learning Centre and relevant Heads of Department
- Guide and support students with hospital-based research projects
- Support for Clinical Practice Improvement Through Research
- Identify clinical delivery issues and develop action plans for improvement
- Promotion and Marketing of the Nursing Profession
- Engage in initiatives that enhance the professional image of nursing
- Collaborate with students and learning institutions to promote nursing as a career of choice
- Participate in community events with students to promote the hospital and its services
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing
- Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education (essential)
- Current registration with SANC as well as Assessor and Moderator certification
- Strong knowledge of nursing practice legislation and nursing education frameworks
