Role Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance operations of the power plant. This includes managing a team of skilled technicians and ensuring that mechanical and electrical systems are operating efficiently and safely. The role plays a key part in supporting plant reliability and performance through both reactive and preventative maintenance practices.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong background in power plant systems, capable of aligning maintenance planning with broader operational and efficiency goals.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate all mechanical and electrical maintenance systems, processes, and personnel.

Align maintenance strategies with operational objectives to improve plant efficiency and reduce downtime.

Lead the maintenance team in both proactive (preventative) and reactive repair work across all plant equipment and infrastructure.

Ensure the facility operates to maximum safety, reliability, and performance standards.

Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules and manage capital spare parts inventory.

Oversee the resolution of equipment breakdowns to minimize operational interruptions.
-
Drive compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable environmental and labour regulations.

Conduct risk assessments, audits, and ensure safety procedures are implemented and maintained.

Maintain accurate maintenance records through CMMS systems.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across operations and infrastructure.

Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

5+ years of experience in maintenance or engineering roles within industrial/manufacturing environments.
-
At least 2–4 years in a similar managerial or leadership role.

Proven experience with boilers, steam systems, power generation equipment, and stock control.
-
Competency in CMMS and understanding of preventative maintenance frameworks.
-
Knowledge of General Machinery Regulations is advantageous.

Strong understanding of power plant operations, maintenance risks, and regulatory compliance.

Solid grasp of SHERQ management systems, occupational health, and industrial safety practices.

Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.

Strong leadership and team development capabilities.

Skilled in negotiation, project management, and performance optimisation.

Proficient in risk assessment, report writing, and maintenance auditing.

Excellent computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
