Overview:A world-renowned luxury safari destination, is seeking a hands-on and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee all aspects of property maintenance and upkeep. This role is essential in ensuring that all infrastructure, buildings, guest areas, staff accommodation, and gardens are maintained to the highest standard.Key Responsibilities:Perform and oversee routine maintenance and emergency repairs on all facilities including guest lodges, staff accommodation, kitchens, offices, and operational infrastructure.Conduct basic electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning repairs and maintenance.Plan and implement minor renovation projects including painting, wall repairs, lighting installations, and structural touch-ups.Supervise external contractors when necessary and ensure work is completed to company standards.Maintain and manage a preventative maintenance schedule.Ensure proper upkeep of all tools, equipment, and workshop areas.Oversee and participate in the maintenance of the gardens, including lawn care, plant upkeep, and irrigation systems.Maintain health and safety standards across the property.Manage and lead a small maintenance and groundskeeping team.Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and materials and ensure cost-effective procurement.Respond promptly to maintenance-related requests from lodge management and staff.- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a lodge, resort, or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of general maintenance including plumbing, electrical systems, air conditioning, and basic carpentry and masonry.
- Experience with small-scale renovations and refurbishment.
- Gardening and landscaping experience an advantage.
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport preferred.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Hands-on, practical, and solution-oriented.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work under pressure and in remote, sometimes challenging environments.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to high standards of quality and safety.
