Purpose:
To lead and manage the Training and Development function and programme for students and staff at the Chrysalis Academy.
Key performance areas:
● Provide leadership and strategic direction within the Training & Development team.
● Develop a comprehensive curriculum of learning and development for each student programme, which is responsive to the needs of each intake of students.
● Manage the overall implementation of each student learning and development programme.
● Support the student programme through counselling, facilitation or coaching.
● Provide mentoring & coaching to staff and students.
● Oversee programme and service planning, execution, and evaluation.
● Manage the overall implementation of the National Youth Development Certificate.
● Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Life Coaching component.
● Oversee the management of the primary health care of students and staff.
● Provide overall leadership and strategic direction to the NatureWorx team.
● Coordinate the implementation of programmes linked to the holistic model, which may include TREÒ (Trauma Release ExerciseÒ), GERI (Gender Equity & Reconciliation International) Training, trauma-related and/or any other therapeutic programmes.
● Cultivate relationships with statutory bodies within the skills development sector, higher learning institutions, national, local and provincial government departments and other NGO / NPOs to achieve the CA’s vision, mission, strategic goals and objectives.
● Ensure the Training & Development department follows good governance principles and practices.

● A relevant Honours Degree in management, social sciences, development studies, or a related field.
● Extensive (over 10 years) leadership and management experience in a non-profit, youth development, advocacy, or social justice organization.
● Relevant experience in curriculum design, training and development practices, methodologies and processes.
● Knowledge of statutory bodies within the skills development sector (SETA, QTCO etc.).
● A valid driver’s license is essential.
● Experience of working within a holistic and trauma-responsive framework.
● Fluent in at least 2 South African languages.
● Non-smoker and of sober habits.
Skills and competence:
● Well-developed strategic leadership and management skills.
● Excellent curriculum design, implementation and management skills.
● Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
● Excellent research and report writing skills, including proposal writing and progress reports.
● Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
● Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
● Well-developed computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace and PowerPoint or CANVA).
● Excellent interpersonal and social skills.
● Good financial management skills.
