Description:
Key Role Responsibilities:Operate gunning equipment and assist with refractory installations and maintenance of all related equipment
First line maintenance inspection and maintenance tasks on equipment
Application and monitoring of company material (incl. trial material) Controlling of material (gunning; castable; bricks; sleeves; blocks, etc.) Checking and maintenance of all machines and auxiliary equipment of company on site
Checking, managing and reporting on company gunning material on the various plants and in the stores
Maintain and improve customer satisfaction by providing good, on time and reliable service.
Providing the necessary training on correct gunning practice and the use of company equipment
Compiling daily reports, shift rosters and attending to meetings Performing Stand-By duties and Supervision on a shift basis
Own reliably transport to perform Stand-By Duties.
Cost control on equipment and spares & PPE
Maintain housekeeping rules and regulations
Adhere to safety rules and regulations (SHER)
Compliance to Quality Management System
Requirements:
Qualifications, Skills and experience:Grade 12
3 – 5 years in a steel making environment and maintaining mechanical equipment would be advantageous
Maintenance and repair of equipment is an important part of the job function, hence a person with good mechanical expertise and ability is required
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with an ability to converse in English (reading, writing & speaking).
Comfortable with change and excellent team player
Be able to work in a pressured environment
Be able to complete tasks efficiently and effectively
Flexible to change shift pattern on short notice
Adhere to stringent physical requirements of the position
Be in possession of a valid driver’s license
Be punctual
No gunning experience is required but would be advantageous.
