Assistant Production Manager

Riverfresh forms part of the ACG Fruit Group, and is a well-established agricultural enterprise situated 15km outside Porterville, along the R44 in Halfmanshof. Our client is looking for a dynamic and motivated Assistant Production Manager to join their team at one of the three production units, namely De Tuin Landgoed, a 77 HA export-focused table grape
production unit.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with strong leadership and team management skills, who is looking for an opportunity to grow within a respected agricultural group.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Production Manager and play a key role in day-to-day vineyard operations, from pruning through to harvest and packing.

Responsibilities will include: *Personnel management (approximately 250 people) *all aspects of quality grape growing - soil management, pruning, assisting with establishment of new vineyards, pest and weed control, canopy management, irrigation, harvesting *implementing & overseeing chemical spray and fertilisation programs *record keeping and production reports *quality management i.e. compliance with relevant accreditations *assisting with grape production budget and operating costs in collaboration with management *Overseeing general farm maintenance of vehicles, implements, and buildings *All other tasks related to the role.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:
• Tertiary qualification in Agriculture or related field;
• Minimum of 2 seasons’ relevant experience in a similar role;
• Strong technical knowledge in all aspects of export table grape production;
• Basic understanding of irrigation systems and maintenance;
• Well-developed computer skills (MS Office required, agricultural software systems advantageous (e.g. FMS, Dipar, Bartender, Top-Control, IMPI);
• Good communication skills in Afrikaans & English (Xhosa will be beneficial);
• Willingness to work after hours and weekends as per operational requirements.
• Valid driver’s license.
