Description:
Higher Resolve's Client is seeking an experienced and proactive Training Manager to lead the development and implementation of training programs across our abattoir facility in Pretoria. This role ensures that all staff—from line operators to supervisors—are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and certifications to work safely, humanely, and efficiently in a highly regulated environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adult education, occupational safety, and meat processing standards, with the ability to tailor training approaches to a multilingual, multicultural workforce.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain a comprehensive training strategy aligned with operational, safety, animal welfare, and compliance standards.

Conduct training needs analyses in collaboration with department heads and supervisors.

Design, deliver, and evaluate onboarding, skills development, and refresher programs for all employees.

Ensure all training aligns with industry regulations (e.g., food safety, animal welfare, occupational health & safety).

Maintain detailed records of all training activities, certifications, and competency assessments.

Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, making improvements based on feedback and operational outcomes.

Partner with Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, and Compliance teams to ensure training supports audit readiness.

Train internal trainers and supervisors in effective coaching and mentoring techniques.

Coordinate with external training providers or regulatory bodies as needed.

Promote a culture of continuous learning and development.
Requirements:

Diploma or degree in Training & Development, Education, Human Resources, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years' experience in a training or HRD role, preferably within a food processing or abattoir environment.

Knowledge of meat processing operations, abattoir safety, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, animal welfare standards).

Strong communication and facilitation skills across all levels of the organization.

Proven ability to develop both classroom and hands-on training materials.
-
Familiarity with multilingual workforce training is a strong advantage.

Certification in OHS, food safety, or related fields is beneficial.

Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
-
Computer literacy, particularly with LMS platforms and Microsoft Office.
