Fraud Data ScientistGauteng, South Africa (Hybrid)
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize fraud detection models for payment streams. Analyze client risk profiles and adjust detection models and thresholds accordingly. Investigate system anomalies and troubleshoot issues effectively. Monitor system performance using industry-standard metrics and client-specific data. Manage data issues and incorporate new fraud data feeds as required. Provide technical communication and data wrangling insights for business teams. Support ad hoc investigations and contribute to fraud/analytics projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
MSc or BSc in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field. At least 5 years experience in fraud detection, data analytics, or statistical modeling. Proficiency in MS Office, SQL, and data wrangling techniques. Experience with big data analytics, scripting, and programming.
This role is key to national fraud prevention initiatives and offers opportunities to collaborate with key stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams.
