Role Overview
As the senior Planner, you will own the end-to-end scheduling and coordination of construction activities and labour resources. Your remit spans gathering and analysing project data, producing progress reports, enforcing company scheduling standards, and continually refining planning processes to boost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution

Drive time- and quality-focused schedules across multiple concurrent projects.

Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and designs with ease.

Apply deep knowledge of construction methodologies, production rates, and regulatory procedures to develop realistic programmes and monitor performance.
Cost Control & Procurement
-
Oversee cost and procurement planning, tracking spend and flagging variances early.

Partner with Commercial Managers on procurement strategies and tender schedules.

Support bid evaluation and contract awards, bringing insight into market pricing and the supplier landscape.
Financial Management
-
Assess the financial impact of development plans and design choices.
-
Lead complex planning studies that integrate affordability and energy-efficiency criteria.

Track project performance against targets and deliver concise financial updates to internal and external stakeholders.
Integration & Scope Management
-
Orchestrate scope and integration activities, gauging community and business impacts.

Manage town-planning assignments within agreed boundaries, producing and updating all requisite planning documents.
Reporting
-
Compile clear variance analyses, highlighting risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
-
Prepare executive-level reports and presentation packs, and keep all stakeholders informed of deadlines and milestones.
Risk & Opportunity Management
-
Proactively identify and report risks; draft assessments, SOPs, and mitigation measures.
-
Maintain appropriate insurance coverage, manage risk transfers, and surface opportunities for value creation or cost avoidance.
Qualifications
-
Relevant bachelor’s degree in a construction-related discipline.
-
Professional registration with SACPCMP (PR status) is advantageous.
Experience & Skills

Minimum of 10 years in a senior management or leadership planning role within the construction sector.
