Hire Resolve's client, a manufacturer and supplier of promotional tinware, is searching for a Production Manager to join their team in Epping, Cape town.Responsibilities:

Oversee production activities to improve machine utilization and reduce spoilage.

Drive operational excellence and monitor daily trends for corrective action.
-
Coordinate production planning with Sales and Planning teams.
-
Ensure production plans are approved and followed.
-
Address quality issues in collaboration with QA personnel.
-
Maintain housekeeping and enforce 5S standards.
-
Approve daily overtime and manage cost overruns.
-
Investigate and resolve customer complaints and product rejections.
-
Ensure compliance with quality, food safety, and audit standards.
-
Oversee equipment maintenance, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and scheduling.
-
Coordinate breakdown response and develop preventative measures.
-
Conduct daily maintenance meetings and manage budget adherence.
-
Review staff performance and conduct disciplinary actions as needed.
-
Coordinate training, keep skills matrix updated, and support succession planning.
-
Promote and enforce safety practices and investigate incidents.
-
Ensure timely completion of reports and administrative tasks.
-
Support innovation and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
-
B-Tech or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a Diploma in Production Management (or equivalent qualification).

Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
-
Proven ability to manage production efficiency, quality control, and maintenance coordination.
-
Strong understanding of KPIs, EMU (Effective Machine Utilization), and spoilage reduction strategies.
-
Experience with implementing 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.
-
Knowledge of quality and food safety management systems.
-
Familiarity with Six Sigma principles and audit compliance.
-
Competence in managing staff performance, training, and succession planning.
-
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
-
Ability to enforce safety protocols and promote a safety-first culture.
