Requirements:LLB Degree or equivalent; Admission as an attorney/advocate. Ideally of 8 - 10 years of legal experience, preferably with experience in international trade, agriculture, or FMCG industries. Experience with intellectual property, licensing and trade in foreign market regulations. Experience in South African corporate and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Draft, review, and negotiate licenses for nurseries, commercial growers, and trial growers. Negotiate and finalise commercial contracts with global suppliers and customers. Assess supplier and customer contracts, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Provide guidance on key contractual obligations and risk management strategies. Research and interpret relevant laws in new operating regions. Develop and roll out grower licences in new jurisdictions. Manage execution of licences and contracts to facilitate supply chain operations. Advise on legal considerations for establishing and maintaining fresh produce supply chains. Identify and interpret laws regulating fresh produce supply in South Africa, North Africa, and Europe. Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements across multiple regions. Provide proactive legal guidance to mitigate compliance risks. Support global litigation cases by reviewing pleadings, preparing discovery, and conducting legal research. Assist with day-to-day legal challenges in North Africa and Europe, such as customs clearance issues. Advise on corporate law matters and corporate structures in South Africa.
