Description:
To ensure optimal uptime, efficiency, and output of automated production lines through proactive maintenance, hands-on technical problem-solving, and daily production oversight. This role combines advanced electromechanical maintenance (Millwright) and robotic systems knowledge (Robomechanics) with practical production leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting on automated machinery, robotics, and electromechanical systems. Lead breakdown recovery efforts and execute root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. Monitor and improve the performance of automated lines, including cycle times, uptime, and output quality. Collaborate with production planning and quality teams to ensure daily production targets are met. Execute and improve planned preventative maintenance schedules for automation equipment. Maintain PLCs, sensors, servos, and HMI systems in accordance with OEM and internal standards. Participate in process optimisation initiatives, working alongside engineering and continuous improvement teams. Maintain detailed records of maintenance and production-related activities and downtimes. Train operators on correct use and basic care of automated systems. Support installation and commissioning of new automated equipment when necessary.Minimum Requirements:
Recognised Millwright trade qualification (Red Seal preferred). Certification or demonstrated experience in Robomechanics or Mechatronics. Minimum 5 years experience working in a production environment with a high degree of automation. Proven hands-on ability to fault-find and repair electro-mechanical and robotic systems. Familiarity with PLC systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley) and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet). Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, and conveyors. Experience working under pressure in a fast-paced, KPI-driven manufacturing environment.Key Competencies:
Highly proactive and hands-on technical problem-solver. Strong understanding of safety standards and risk assessment in automated environments. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional production team. Good communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external service providers. Results-driven, with a strong sense of accountability and urgency.
