Description:
Medical Laboratory is looking for an administrator at its Head Office in Benoni, mainly to assist with practice management focusing on pathology testing.
It is a busy environment, and the successful candidate will have to be able to work in a high-pressure environment and have excellent multitasking skills.
Main duties will include:
- Completing paperwork and forms relating to laboratory testing
- Working with existing staff to retrieve patient information relating medical aid schemes and memberships
- Working closely with staff to ensure that the test requirements are clearly communicated and marked correctly on the forms
- Checking availability of funds on various medical aid electronic query systems
- Ensuring that patients pay their accounts where there are outstanding accounts or short payments by Medical Aids
- Building sustainable relationship with medical professionals, other administrator staff as well as patients
- Effectively communicate with the Laboratory to collect samples and to release results
- Printing Laboratory reports and advising that the results are available, and to put emphasis on the results
- Working closely with the Laboratory Director and Laboratory Manager to coordinate patient account management & to ensure that correct results are reported
- Internally interpreting results in relation to patients conditions, and to evaluate deviation and report it to management
- Driving and collecting samples from depots
- Capturing data on the Laboratories computer system relating to account detail and test debiting
- Contacting patients regarding outstanding account and following up on payments
- Assisting with technical work if and when required in accordance with professional qualification and registration
Requirements:
- Administration: 1 year or less
- Computer Skills (Windows)
- Medical Aids: 1 year or less
- Technical Focus: 1 year or less
The following skills will be a benefit:
- English & Afrikaans-speaking – other African Lanuages and advantage
- Having a strong medical background and being able to collect samples (bloods; urine, swabs etc.,), with a focus on phlebotomy or nursing
- ICD-10 coding experience required with the collection of medical bills for medical practices
- Credit Control/debt collection within a medical bureau, performing collections on laboratory patient accounts
- Strong advantage will be given to individuals with background in Medical debt collections as well as experience in liasing with Medical Aid Schemes.
- Good computer skills
- Good money collection skills
- Good accounting / bookkeeping skills
- Previous medical administration experience i.e. medical debiting
- Being a strong person, able to work diligently on their own while still working as part of a team
- Overall understanding of pathology and evaluating results
Qualifications:
- Matric as a minimum with preferable Biology, Science and Accounting
- Registration with HPCSA as
- Valid Driver's license and own reliable transport
Work hours will be Monday – Friday 0800 – 1700, with normal lunch and tea breaks. Saturday work will be required on a rotational basis.
The successful candidate will report directly to Laboratory Management and will be required to look after the companies interest while working in the doctors rooms.
