Description:
My client is looking for an accountant to join their insurance finance department. As a successful accountant, you will be responsible for the full accounting function of various companies in this division. You will be involved in the compilation of management accounts as well as annual financial statements. You will also be involved in other monthly accounting work and Insurance Accounting work
Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation of annual financial statements and assistance with Independent Reviews
Preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts
Reporting on variances and implementing cost-saving initiatives
Monthly reconciliation and submission of VAT returns
Submission of EMP201 returns
Preparation of annual budgets
Cash flow management, including reviewing and authorizing daily payments for the group
Ensuring accurate processing on Pastel
Reconciliation of customer, supplier, and other ledger accounts
Correspondence and reporting of monthly management accounts to relevant directors
Registration of companies for various taxes, where applicable
Ensuring that CIPC submissions are up to date
Keeping accurate records of petty cash
Opening new bank accounts when needed
Attending daily premium transactions on Tial, including unpaid, force debits, refunds, and allocation of cash payments
Performing month-end runs and submitting debit orders to the bank for collection
Preparing other insurance-related reports, such as claims reconciliations
Calculating and paying monthly commissions
Calculating, reconciling, and paying over premiums to the insurer
Calculating and reconciling binder fees receivable
Reconciling fees payable related to outsource agreements
Handling ad hoc requests from managers
Requirements:
- Reconciliation: 3 to 4 years
- Annual Budget Preparation And Forecasting: 3 to 4 years
- Financial Statement Preparation & Analysis: 3 to 4 years
Relevant finance degree
5 Years’ experience in a similar position
SAICA/SAIPA articles and membership will be beneficial
Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in all aspects of financial reporting
Sound understanding of tax and management accounts
Proven, effective leadership skills and experience
Strong analytical skills, with high attention to detail, and ability to work accurately and deliver quality and timely outputs
Self-starter and ability to work unsupervised
Strong sense of responsibility and timely adherence to deadlines under pressure
Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
Effective communication skills
*This position will be remote for 2-3 months until offices are established in either one of the following areas: Durbanville, Tygervalley, Contermanskloof
