Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAICA Registered Accountant with CIMA certification and a strong background in managerial accounting. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, reporting, and overseeing the accounting team's daily operations. This position requires a thorough understanding of South African accounting standards, regulations, and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and maintain financial models, budgets, and forecasts.
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to improve business performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and propose corrective actions.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors.
3. Managerial Duties:
- Oversee and guide the accounting team in day-to-day operations.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, providing guidance and support.
- Manage financial processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance.
4. Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with SAICA, CIMA, and other regulatory bodies' standards.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks and implement control processes.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting and tax laws and provide recommendations accordingly.
5. Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as department heads, to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- SAICA registration as a Chartered Accountant is mandatory.
- CIMA qualification is required, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of managerial accounting principles and practices.
- Proven experience in a managerial accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of South African accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
- Proficient in financial modeling, analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as an accountant.
- Demonstrated experience in a managerial capacity.
- Experience in various industries would be advantageous.
