Minimum requirements for the role:Minimum matric is essential for this role. A degree or diploma in microbiology, biotechnology, or a related field would be an advantage but is not essential. Previous experience working within a production environment is pref. Previous hands-on experience having worked in fermentation or microbial production is preferred but not essential. Familiarity with bioreactors, pumps, control systems, and basic laboratory equipment is preferred but not essential. Must have a basic understanding of microbiology or a willingness to learn will be an advantage. Must have strong attention to detail and accuracy in measuring and handling materials. Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Must be able to work in a sterile environment and follow strict hygiene protocols. Must have good organizational and record-keeping skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Playing a critical role in the fermentation process, ensuring efficient production of microbial products. Operating and monitoring equipment to cultivate microbial products, ensuring optimal growth conditions and adherence to production protocols. Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting equipment to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the factory maintenance, adhering to safety and hygiene standards. Tracking and managing raw material stock, ensuring adequate supply levels and accurate record-keeping. Communicating with production supervisors and ensure protocols are being applied in each department. Compiling weekly reports on production, operations and maintenance updates. Applying or developing knowledge of basic microbiology principles to support production processes and ensure product quality. Preparing fermentation equipment, media, and raw materials according to established sops and batch production records. Troubleshooting fermentation systems, identifying issues such as contamination or deviations in process parameters, and escalating as needed. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
